Our squadron was granted its warrant in 1996 and constitutes one of the eleven squadrons that comprise Vancouver Island North District of Canadian Power & Sail Squadrons.
We are a group of volunteers primarily interested in promoting safe and enjoyable boating by education of the general public through a variety of courses and workshops on subjects pertaining to both power and sail. Our classes and workshops are all located on Gabriola Island.
We offer the 13-week Boating Course both spring and fall, which more than qualifies the student to obtain the Coast Guard Pleasure Craft Operator's Card (PCOC).
We also offer courses in Marine Weather, VHF Maritime Radio, GPS, and the advanced courses in response to demand. A daylong seminar in Boating Safety (BoatPro), which also qualifies the student for PCOC exam, is held as required.
In addition we arrange a social and cruising program for our members and their guests.
